The two false sightings of land are referenced, after a fashion, in the Bugs Bunny cartoon version of the Columbus voyage ("Hare We Go"), and the rabbit becomes the object of the crew's wrath due to it ("Now, wait a minute, fellas...").
Surprising to me. Revealing more depth of character about any historical figure is always appealing, despite that person’s charms or flaws. Columbus may well be a cad at heart but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to know more about him.
I'm truly enjoying this series. Despite being quite familiar with the figure and this particular trip (like any other Spaniard, I guess), I really like the perspective you bring in.
He was lucky to be wrong and start the journey, and lucky to stumble upon a big chunk of unknown land. If he hadn't been so stubborn, how many more years it would have taken Europeans to discover America?

Very much enjoying this series. The vainglory!
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying them Tim, because I have to say, they’ve not been doing good numbers!
