Whoa Two Mothers is a heavy one

Can’t decide which I like better: mammoths being painted, or mammoth chasing humans. Both depict forms of respect for the beast.

Prehistoric eden is an idea we will probably always suffer, sadly. That one is a human level all over the world thing you can find everywhere. Popper called it 'the strain of civilization' cuz he was a mensch.

Cecil B. DeMille used the biblical cover to get dancing girls and Roman orgies into his blockbusters. "You gotta have a gimmick".

Sooo interesting!! Does talent bequeath talent? Almost like it's in the air. Or perhaps, competition.

Pretty vivid stuff. He clearly understood the perilous nature of life at that time.

Maybe it's my ignorance of art speaking, but since a painting usually only depict one event, it seems to me every subject could be dismissed as either Noble Savagery (if the subjects are having a good time) or Nasty Brutishness (if they aren't). What would be an example of an artwork that is neither?
