I am sure her husband was thrilled about the heart thing.

I've been reading a book about this and it's an utterly difficult read, taking me forever because the story is difficult and it depicts the love between Anna and Nils. He wrote her letters and the book has letters and the diary entries. Whatever of it is saved of course. I think the book is the most recent in these developments and what is clear from reading it are three things: 1) They were prepared, but not prepared, because they're trekking and their feet get wet and cold. 2) All the diary entries show the exhaustion and the treacherous hiking conditions and wild animals. 3) They had not thought out how to transport their food and necessary provisions and keep leaving stuff behind the whole time. You covered this topic and now I need to find and finish the book. Am at the stage where the author kind of works out the diary entries as they've been damaged and some if it is there and some if you have to assume. But the fact that Nils writes letters to Anna in this time, is just proof to show how much he held her in his thoughts. I didn't know the bit about Anna's heart. That just threw me. Thank you for bringing it to my awareness again. I've also read in the Swedish press that they think they died of Polar bear attacks not from parasites or carbon monoxide asphyxiation.
